ANNA GAEBLER, LONG ISLAND

Anna is living with dementia and mobility issues. She requires 24-hour Live In care.

Situation

Anna requires 24 Hour Live In assistance. She has dementia and ambulation difficulties. Her family was not happy with the home care resources they had been using, due to the constant turnover of the Aides assigned to her Mom’s case. Each new person had to be educated to the specifics of her Mom’s home and home care situation, which required a lot of time on their part. Also, the number of different faces coming and going was confusing and upsetting to Anna. The family never knew who was going to be there. What they sought was consistency.

STEPS’ Solution

The family heard about STEPS Home Care through word of mouth. A STEPS employee, who overheard a family member complaining to a friend about how much difficulty she was having getting reliable home care service, gave them her card.

Two consistent people are now in place providing the stability the situation required. They provide Anna with companionship and help her with bathing, cooking, grooming, personal hygiene, etc. Anna’s daughter, Donna, knows she can call STEPS’ Director of Patient Services, Barbara Moran, at any time.

STEPS Results

A true success story. Anna is happy and comfortable with her Caregivers, as is her daughter, Donna. She describes the Caregivers as trustworthy, caring, friendly, and easy to get along with. They keep their house clean, help Anna with her hygiene, are good cooks, engage with her, and have a positive “can do” attitude. They have bonded with Anna and their family. Donna says that she is comfortable and has peace of mind, because her mother is in safe hands 24 hours a day. She would recommend STEPS Home Care in a heartbeat.
